Welcome to Iceland in March
We are pleased to be able to invite you to – what we think will be – a very exciting conference on theory, research and practice of adult learning, 5.-6. March 2013 in Reykjavík. The Nordic Conference on Adult Learning has been a place where researchers interested in adult learning and adult education in the Nordic area have gathered to compare notes. At the last conference in Trondheim, during an evaluation meeting, participants expressed strongly wishes for:
- more time for discussions
- to make the conference into a meeting-place for researchers and practitioners
We are happy and obliged to do what we can to answer these demands. So we propose a conference where we make this meeting-point between theory and practice into our theme and where, during sessions and research and case-studies will be presented the focus will be on creating interesting discussions. The sessions will thus be somewhat longer than usual, and the presentations shorter, and all participants will be expected to have read the papers before the sessions in order to be able to participate actively in discussions.
We will also be offering sessions of a more participant-driven nature. These are being designed with the help of people who have a lot of experience in that field.
The Fifth Nordic Conference on Adult Learning happened to be held in Iceland in the same year as NERA is holding their annual conference in Iceland. This led to the decision – proposed by members of the adult-learning subgroup at NERA 2012 – to hold our conference during the two days before NERA.
The conferences are run and financed independently of each other so we could not find ways to give any reductions on the conference fees when people participate in both, but we are working on getting reductions of the hotel fees for participants who stay in the same hotel for the duration of both the conferences.
We are looking forward to a proposal from you and will answer promptly.
Please sign up for conference updates in order to get news as soon as it is posted.
